Creating Isometric Map using 3D Max
I''m learning 3D Max and I''m having trouble getting a simple rendering of my map that is suitable for a Baldur''s Gate game. Can anyone give me any tips?
I''ve got the view angle set to 30 degrees and I switched on Orthographic Projection. But no matter how I move the camera, I cannot get the whole map inside the camera port.
Do you know but anything about isometric games and how they work???
You need to render tiles only (size is up to you) - everything else (map handling/drawing etc) is handled by your engine - not the render.

Yes I do.
The game I''m working on is using a ''Big Bitmap Engine''. BBM''s use huge prerendered maps instead of tiles because they look better. All of the Baldurs Gate games, Planescape and Lionheart were made using these types of engines.

Have you not tried to...
Increase the render output size?
In the render dialogue window (F10).
Then, if you need, turn on safe frames in the viewport to see where the render boundaries are.
