I''m writing editor for my future game and need an easy way to preview currently selected texture. Engine will support DirectX and OpenGL(if needed) but currently Im working on D3D part. Since performance is not main concern in editor any simple way would matter. /me using D3DX8.0 sdk. thanks for answers

To have it in a separate window (HWND) use CreateAdditionalSwapChain() to create a new swap chain for that window.

To have it in your main D3D window (picture-in-picture/minimap style) just apply it to a polygon or look at SetViewport().

Thanks I know how to make it in main window since it''s not very different from any textured triangle.

I meant way of presenting into HWND without using anymore resources from 3d card, since it is not worth it for editor. Performance is not key issue here.
