you buy/download maya, you install it, you execute maya.exe and the you make your level if you know how to use a 3d program, else you learn how to use it, and after you use it

I already have Maya and know how to use it, but I was wondering How to use the code to make the level a level. How do I save it, what type of file, how do I use it in the code so the model is able to walk around in it, etc. I know this is not a question that could be answered on a forum (lenghty) but does anyone know where I can attain this info.

You''ll see many different possible file types you can export your scene to. Each filetype has its advantages and disadvantages over the other. type those filetypes into google and you''ll find plenty of pages that''ll tell you the format and what they''re good for. I found this page:

http://www.gametutorials.com/Tutorials/OpenGL/OpenGL_Pg4.htm

It seems to have some good tutorials that might help you.

There was a Maya SDK tutorial on Gamedev a few weeks ago. That''s probably what you want to look at.
