problem with NeHe basecode

Ok I''m really shocked at this, but nehe''s basecode doesn''t start on my friends computer. He''s running windows XP and a geforce 3 with the latest drivers. Using the .exe that comes with the basecode (!) it fails to initialize and returns "Failed to create openGL window". I tracked the error by compiling my own version and adding messages, and it fails at this line: this->hRC = wglCreateContext (this->hDC); Does anyone know what kinds of things would cause a wgl function to not work? I am really suprised at this. Other games (counterstrike at least) run in openGL mode fine on his computer! I am thinking something is wrong with his computer rather than the basecode, but other openGL games work, so now I''m just confused!

I know, I thought of that too. But other (commercial) openGL games seem to work fine, and even the earliest geforce3 drivers should run NeHe''s basecode easily.
