directx surface -> win32 bitmap

Hello I want directx graphics in a windowed app (as in not fullscreen) The device->present to a window never was very good though, so what I really want is to move my directx main surface into a win32 bitmap (or a device context in general) How nice it would be f.inst. to be able to "present" into a win32 DC (device context) instead of onto a window represented by a HWND handle .. I hate this limitation :| Is there a good way to acomplish this worthy goal ? .. ty in advance :->
