Is this possible in DX8? Changing which surface is backbuffer?

Ok this is probably not possible, but I wanted to ask the experts. If I have 2 surfaces(besides the front buffer) in VMEM, can I change which buffer is flipped upon Present()? And also the Direct3d object is created with only one back buffer. Thanks, Brian

When a swap chain is presented, the current back buffer (at index 0) is displayed and the chain is rotated. There's no way to change this and there's no way to directly present any other kind of surface.

If I understand you, you want to present a surface that's not part of a swap chain (i.e., not a back buffer). You could CopyRects it to the back buffer.
