A couple years ago, I played a cool game on my old Mac called Escape Velocity. It allows you to takes all sorts of missions ranging from carrying cargo and passengers to fighting off space pirates. There are like 15 ships you can buy, and you can board ships and plunder their cargoes. There are also a lot of weapons and ship upgrades you can buy. When you get tired of the standard missions and upgrades, there are a multitude of plug-ins that add missions, ships and weapons. Very cool, and I think original, game.
