Game Tutorial 7 - how to add particles?

Well, i know the particle engine is there and we can add the particles, but when i add ps1.SetTexture(&flare); It gives me an error saying that it is unable to convert flare from TEXTURE to unsigned int, is there any way to use an unsigned int / TEXTURE variable for it?

EDIT:

Now, when i add the ps1.Render(); and the Update parts, it shows nothing yet (after adding all the other ps1.variables values before that), any ideas why?
