Game engines

What about a new thread focused on Game Engines?
There are a lot of free \ low priced game engines now available on the market and the choice is not easy.
The technical features being very different and continuosly evolving.
I suppose it would be of interest to all " advanced " amateurs.
I doubt that most of hobbyest game programmers have time and skill to develop a decent game engine , on the other hand only using a game engine you can expect to achieve some serious results.
At least that''s my experience as 2-3 years amateur game programmer
thanks and regards
I agree, I bought the Torque Game Engine, and while it''s a good engine, I would have liked to known about others.
That''s a great idea.

@Villemus: I''m thinking about buying Torque. Would you recommend it? Do you find the private forums useful? Thanks for any info.
