directx 9.0a/9.1 sdk
is either of the above versions going to come out soon or at all?

*laughs nervously...* DX 9 has been out since towards the middle of december, (Last day of finals ).
The 9.0a SDK update has been out since May 16th. The debug runtime has been out since December 20th (9.0a is only bugfixes, no new content AFAIK):

Is there any reason to bother downloading 9.0a when you have 9.0? What kind of bugs are we taling about? Documentation bugs? Fatal frame-rate-dropping bugs?
