Batching from meshes.

Hi! I want to try to batch the poly''s from my meshes, but I am having a couple of problems. Currently I have a function called "RenderModel" which will render a D3DXMesh object onto the screen. It flips through each poly and outputs it with "DrawSubset." Using this routine, I draw a grid of boxes that makes up a map, kind of like rollercoaster tycoon. Now, instead of calling this function several times, and each time drawing each subset seperately, i''d like to get all the information into one vertex buffer and spit it out. Can anyone get me pointed in the right direction on what I need to do here? I am still somewhat a beginner with vertex buffers, I have used them a little, but i''m a little shaky on them. Any help on how I can go about optimizing this and batching the polys would be appreciated, even if it is just a pointer in the right direction or link to a resource! Thanks!
