Updating Help Files in MSVS
Does anyone know how to get rid of the DX5 files that get installed with MSVS 6.0, and then make the DX9 ".chm" file work with MSVS, like when you press the F1 key, the help topic opens ?
You can do it manually, but that''s too much work (it involves editing XML index files and a lot of other stuff like that; there''s an article on it at FlipCode). I prefer to simply grab the latest Platform SDK (which includes the DirectX developer runtimes and SDK).
I did grab the SDK, and installed it. But, the help files got dumped in the "DXSDK\Docs\DirectX9\" folder. So, I copied the two files to the MSDevStudio help files directory, but the old DX5 stuff is still showing up in the help contents. Somehow I need to "recompile" the compiled html help that mirosoft is using. There is no documentation that I can find on how to do that.
