Just wondering what Music file formats are popular for games in these modern times? Is MIDI still used for anything, or is it all MP3 now?
Or what? You'll send the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees and when they bark they shoot bees at you?

mp3, ogg etc. No one uses a single format. Every game has its needs.

I would imagine that mp3 is being less used now due to the new mp3 license. This is just speculative, but since most games I have seen lately doesn''t use mp3, I would imagine this to be a correct assumption.

Recently, a license fee has been imposed on using mp3, so people are switching to the .ogg format which is just as good at compressing, and in most cases retains the same quality as the mp3 version.

mp3 and ogg for static sound tracks.

Direct Music or MIDI w/ DLS is popular for dynamic sound tracks.
