Interesting bugs in DX9.0!!!!!!
For all readers, please someone tell me that iam wrong.
i have found somebugs in directx, i dont belive that microsoft have launched dx9 without noticing them.
1- The dx9 redist doesnt work on windows me!!!!!!, is that possible????, yes the computer restarts after installing the directx then it stucks at the updating system files, loads and loads and loads, but nothing happens!!!!!!!!!
2- The skinnedmesh example doesnt work on XP''s and 2000, especialy the method of SOFTWARE skinning. check it out.
3- The D3DXTri_Intersect functions checks all faces allocated in the LPD3DXMESH class, what i mean is that if you have allocated 10000 face, when calling the function the computer checks them all!!!!!!!!.
problem (2) have been tested on many computers
a- windows XP , 2000 MHZ, ati raedon 64 MBs.
b- windows 2000, 2000 MHZ, ati raedon 64 MBs.
c- windows XP , 1700 MHZ, ati 16 MBs
d- windows XP , 2000 MHZ, geforce2
hope that someone tell me what is happening.......
It works perfectly for me. try reinstalling directx 9.0a.

it works perfectly for me too. Are you sure your downloads aren''t corrupted? Just because once I downloaded rthdribl( dx tech sample) and the file became corrupted and I just wondered how can this little program froze the whole XP.

We perform extensive testing before we make a release and never encountered the problems you are describing, and I have not heard of anyone else with these problems.
If you believe there are problems, please send me specific repro steps and Windows configs (dxdiag output).
For #3, I don''t know the specifics of the Intersect call you''re referring to, but the standard intersect function will of course need to check the ray intersection with all the faces of your mesh. There are other ways you could implement this yourself to save time.

Dear Mr.Herbm
tell me how do you want me to send you the problems you need, starting from my computer till reaching yours.
and by the way,i want to ask you a question.
using the D3DINDEXED method in the skinnedmesh sample, how can i take the final mesh as a LPD3DXMESH,to use it in other perposes.
