2D Stretch w/ Margins

Just looking for a little advice here on my DX GUI ... Anyone have a good method of stretching sprites but preserving certain margins? I was cutting my window/control rectangles into various corners w/ Photoshop so that I could display things like windows and buttons in various sizes. But that is rapidly becoming a pain. If I could have my code do it, it would be much easier. But the only thing I've come up with so far is just to do the same thing I'm doing now in memory, which isn't much better. Thanks in advance...
