does anyone have any opinions or experience or theories on how performance would go with writing a mid-sized game in C# using Managed DirectX 9? ive heard managed code is a bit slower, but then again most game performance is in the GPU. is C# likely to take off for commercial game development in the future? i would like to write a mid-sized game to sort of prove myself, and wondered if C# would be a good way to get in on future technology.
