Yep, embedded visual c++ (free download from MS! it''s true!) and GAPI for graphics is your best bet. GDI is painfully slow. There are a few cool sprite libraries around like GapiDraw that you might want to try. For sound, you''ll have to write your own mixer and use standard windows mmsystem waveout to output the sound, or use FMOD (but commercial licence costs $$$)

Yes, I tried eMbedded C++ but I was wondering if there was a GUI based system.
I will definetly try GapiDraw.
