Look at the devdlg.c from PRO Edit to see how I got rid of the device dialog completely, and made it always use the HAL driver.

Correct me if I''m wrong but is this enough:

BOOL initApplication (HANDLE hInstance, int nCmdShow)
{
WNDCLASS wc;
BOOL rc;

// get directx drivers
EnumerateDevices (0);

// the rest of the original function
}

// sets the drivers

PR_DWORD FoundHAL;

HRESULT WINAPI D3D_EnumDeviceFunc (LPSTR lpDeviceDescription, LPSTR lpDeviceName, LPD3DDEVICEDESC7 lpHWDesc, LPVOID lpContext)
{
// nearly original
// removed: adding value to the combo boxes
}

void EnumerateDevices (int driver)
{
// nearly original
// removed: adding value to the combo boxes
}

void PR_ChooseDDraw_Driver (int *driver, int *driver2, int *device)
{
*driver = 0;
*driver2 = PR_DD_NumDrivers - 1;
*device = 0;
}
