2.6, 3.0 API difference

Hi. I''d like to ask a question. If I write a significant part of my code using the features of PR 2.6, and then buy PR 3, will I have to rewrite a lot of code to port the game to the new version?

The API is mostly the same, except PR 3 has multitexturing capabilities.

I would not write ''a significant part'' of your code using older libraries because PR 3 may save you a lot of time. Some of the things like the PRO Edit utility, portal engine, BSP viewer, etc are available in PR 3.

There are now two versions of the landscape engine, so make sure you pick the right one for your project if you plan on doing terrain. One uses tiles and the other uses a large texture for the entire world.

If you''re just loading in .PRO files and manipulating them, you won''t have to change much of anything. When you get PR3 you will be able to load those files in and add more effects like multitexturing and bump mapping.
