Texture projection

When doing texture projections (using clip space) how do I avoid projecting the texture on an object the lies between the camera and the projection target?

Only render the texture to the target, missing out all other objects, it''s that simple. Obviously, you''ll have to figure out what the target is, but your question is too vague for more information.

I don''t understand how can you ''know'' what''s the target (as you are working in image space). Maybe I got it all wrong and I shouldn''t be doing this using image space algorithms at all. can you please describe what method would you use to do simple texture projetcion on arbitrary geometry. Or point me to a relevant article?
