Videogame Music Software

I know tihs post is very similar to the other post in the forum, but I just wanted to say some things. Is there a way I can get a program to create videogame music, not necessarily like the professionals, but good enough to make sci-fi/electronica and techno. For example, stuff that resembles the matrix music soundtrack and maybe the Mortal Kombat theme. If any of you could point me in any direction, I''d be most grateful. It would be an even greater benefit of a software problem that lets you create cool music with a relatively small learning curve. The program doesn''t have to be exstrmely advanced, just advanced enought to accomplish what I listed above. Thanks, --BioagentX

I''ve had decent luck with FractMus 2000, which is automatic.
Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Try Propellerhead Reason (www.propellerheads.se). I think it can produce the exact sound you are after. Version 1 has been superseeded by 2.5 so you could probably pick V1 up dirt cheap at ebay of sumthing.

Its definately worth trying the demo at least, then you know if it is what you want.

I''d try

TRial/$$
FruityLoops - http://www.fruityloops.com/

Or Free:
Psycle - http://psycle.pastnotecut.org
Renoise - http://www.renoise.com

They basically all do the same thing.

Psycle comes with built in synths, but there''s a heap of FREE VST machines to plug in.

VST is a plugin software synthesizer or effects unit.

a few good free ones are:

http://www.kvr-vst.com/

and just do a google search.

Any music ~generated~ by software will be souless for obvious reason, but it can at most sound non-irritating .
"Mommy, where do microprocessors come from?"
Define what you mean by generated

going over the basics again, so it''s clear in your mind..

vst=''virtual studio technology..'' coined by steinberg, makers of cubase, as a standard effects- and instruments- plug-in format..

the intended application is a sequencer/''composer-arranger'' software wherein you can use plug-ins to create and process sounds that play parts you create within the sequencer.

there are some ''automated'' wares that generate sequence/sound data with various methods, but unless you''re extremely forgiving/dull, there''s no such thing as a software that makes ''quality mp3'' beyond the usual human-type robots that do these things.

if you like, you can experiment with some of the ''jokes'' i have created..

http://home/earthlink.net/~plattermatic/vsti.html

here you will find vst format instrument plug-ins i''ve made with synthedit.. to use them, you will need to download a vst host/sequencer.. they''re as good a bet as any for ''make me an mp3.''

''box'' is an automatic drummer.. press a key, and it will ''drum,'' constantly varying and cutting sounds in and out. the sequence generating engine is primitive, as it''s more an example of what''s possible with freeware than a ''super master robot drummer.'' buy me pro c++ and a year off life, i''ll make one of those for you.

''shoggoth'' is an automatic guitarist.. ''x chanter'' is an automatic vocalist and any day now my pal will finish up the graphics for ''scribe,'' the automatic synth part. put it all together and won''t make the next dance hit, but it will sound mighty weird and, perhaps, give you some ideas.

btw, in the u.s. a low rate for professional music is $500 per minute (ie. local guy makes music for your local pizza shack) so afaic, we''re all better off just biting the bullet and learning to do it ourselves.
