I have a list of vertices that represent a complex polygon (can be concave or convex, but not self intersecting) lying on the z-plane does anybody know of an algorithm to determine whether it''s winding is counterclockwise or clockwise just from the list of vertices? thanks!

One simple way of doing this is (for each polygon): calculate the centre of the vertices, calculate the polar angle from the centre out to each vertex, then check the order of the polar angles.

Anygood?
