If you are creating PR entities/objects, you can just use PR_SavePRO(fname, pointer to PR_OBJECT, options) (p39, pr ref docs) or there is a doc file FFORM.doc in the pr ''doc'' directory, which has the file formats in it.
Thanks Whirlwind, but I mean from outside power render, like from a Max script?
Check out the PR30/util/3DS2PRO directory, it contains the source code for 3DS2PRO utility. The VC project libs are in PR30/winutil/3DS2PRO. There should be something in there to help you.

"Check out my lack of progress on the Ge Game engine at GeGames.com"
whirlwind let me know when you have faxed in that contract so i can get you helping out azrael with his project...heheh
Well I saw that code and guess what it contains?
after reading the 3ds file theres a SavePro statement...

Anyone knows where to finf the pro format specs?
Whirlwind had it right earlier. The PRO format is chunk based. It is described and each chunk is detailed in the fform.doc or if you have the chm it is under the object file format section.

Gary
Just a note, there is a new version of the chm file on the FTP site that has the latest file format specs.
