Have you seen the code for the utility called TEXGEN? how dificult could it be to implement something similar to create terrain textures at realtime? (once everytime it loads of course)

I am working on something like that now. At this point I didn''t pick the algorithm... Fractals are pretty good, as long as you look at the landscape from low angles(meaning not overhead). My game needs an overhead view, so I can''t use those... But anyway, check out fractal landscape generation.

If you find something else, post here. We might actually help each other.
