Allegro with Dev-C++

Recommended Posts

I''ve heard Allegro is like OpenGl and DirectX but easier to use (is that right?), and I''m wondering if I should start out using Allegro to program 2D games and change to DirectX later. Which is the easiest to use with Dev-C++ with(DirectX,OpenGl or Allegro)?

All 3 are actually fairly easy to use, but Allegro is a bit simpler. According to the Dev-C++ website, Allegro is the easiest to install and compile with the Dev-C++.

When I started out I used allegro with dev-c++ and it helped me a lot to understand game basics. If you don''t want to get into 3d programming yet learn allegro it''s really easy over time when you feel confortable with allegro you may learn DX, allegro uses DirectX by the way . You can also try SDL but I can''t tell you much about it since I never used it before you can search their site and find out more about it.

Allegro
SDL
