C++ Win95 compiler

The other day my uncle gave me a Windows 95 laptop. I need a good compiler for it, if any of you know a good one. Here is my stats: 180 MHz CPU 24 MB RAM 1.6 GB HD NeoMagic 16 bit video card Scott Simontis C++ Guy

Umm... you'll be needing a lot more ram (and processor, but that wil be impossible to replace) if you want to be able to get it to compile anything at a reasonable speed. Visual Studio will also fill up the hard drive, so if you can upgrade that, do. If you can upgrade the ram to 64 or above, and the hard drive to 10 gigs or above (which I doubt) you could run MSVC .NET on windows 2000 (or windows XP). I suggest MinGW. It's a 30 meg command line compiler.

EDIT: If you ever want a video card with 3D capabilities or even good 2D capabilities though, you'll need a new computer.

Get your hands on a copy of VC++ 6. My first development setup was VC++ 6 on a 120 Mhz pentium, windows 95, 32 megs of ram, 1.6 gig drive. You can make it work.

The MinGW suggestion is also a good one.
