I found a book, AI Techniques for Game Programming and it looks very interesting. All that i know so far is what Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days has taught me. Do I need to learn OpenGL or Direct3D first? Or is there another book I need to get into before I learn about AI? Thanks.

you don''t need to know d3d or ogl to ai - those fall in to the graphics category and have nothing to do with ai.

Actually you need some graphic knowledge, the book being focused on games , however the author use GDI so you do not need neither opengl nor directx

AI...

Get a good background in data structure, learn about Finite State Machines and Stack Machines, then a bit on Predicate Logic... You should be good to go
