OpenGL and .X files?
Is it possible to use DirectX''s X file format in OpenGL, or has it been optimizied for DirectX? It seems to be a very popular format, and end-developers probably would prefer an existing standard to providing a 3D Studio MAX plugin, particularly if they don''t use MAX!
Am I correct? Is X realy that good, or should I find another standard, or provide plugins? What''s your thought.

It''s possible to write a class that handles X files or you COULD use D3DX or D3DRM to load the XFiles and extract verts from there.

You should use a proprietary format and provide converts/plugins for the modelling tools your artists prefer.
