i need theories or methods for rendering sprites on a multi height isometric view. The sprites are pixel offset, so they will not always be exactly on a tile.
when i am rendering tiles and sprites, i make all images renderable by using a single point of reference(called an anchor point). typically this reference point matches up with the center of a tile that has a height of zero. in this way, it is really easy to adjust the sprite in any direction.
When faced with this problem I would break the sprites down into smaller tiles so that the sprite only moves by a tile offset rather than a pixel offset. That is what is done in Mario games. Try to break up the graphics into smaller tiles too. For example tiles should not be more then 8x8 pixels or 4x4 pixels or even 3x3 pixels. You should develop a program to break up graphic images into these kinds of tiles.
