Creating Clothing textures,

On that topic. What are the specific tools in photoshop that one should/could use to make a photo look less photo-ish, without making the image quality look like shit.

IE: How do you modify a photo imported into photoshop to be used as a texture making sure it doesn''t look like a photo but at the same time, gives a photo-quality feel to it.


Specific filters, what the effect will have, certain tips anyone here has, etc.

Ahw is right ( as far as I know).
I am a newbie still, but I am trying to make some cloth lately. And, when a friend told me a way how to make cloth textures.
You take a basic material. Then you piant some things. However, some things are difficult to piant,so you take a picture of cloth, that has similat part as you need (e.g., if you need the cloth to be waved/curved/whatever, you take that part and past in into your texture, and of course,modify it until you get what you need.

But, as I said, I''m a noob,but I think this method is used quite a lot.
