can you edit a 3ds file?

There is GMAX, but it doesn''t open 3ds files. GMAX is by Discreet and is targeted at game modders. i don''t remember the url.

Go the GMax homepage and download the Tempest gamepak. It allows md2 exporting. You should then be able to find a code for loading md2s. I know of tut for that gametutorials.com

I''m suprised some of you guys dont try and make some dough from selling some programmes, maybe you do though, i dont mean games but i have plenty of ideas for software that i reakon would definately sell like hot cakes.

You can download Amapi version 4.15 is free and import and export .3ds files.

Amabilis also makes a free 3d modeler called 3d canvas I think you can import .3ds

If you want to edit the source code for a .3ds open the file in Visual c++

Well, if you want to edit it only for once, then you could try ordering the 3ds max 5 cd the and installing the software, only for 30 days as a trial offer...

go to Discreet.com then go to products then to 3d studio max...
