Hi, I recently started learning OpenGL and I have a stupid question that I need an answer for...What exactly means when you say OpenGL is a state machine? I heard this term many times but I don''t really know what It means...I''m very newbie to OpenGL so please don''t flame me for asking this...

Im not real sure but I think it basically means that you set states and they stay that way until you change them

for example

// enable lighting
glEnable(GL_LIGHTING);

that lighting state is now set until glDisable(GL_LIGHTING) is called again to change the lighting state to off
