Pixelshader( how many user defined constants)
hi i just read a tutorial about pixelshaders and figured that there are only 8 registers for user defined constants
will there be more registers available at the next generation of graphic hardware?
the reason why i need more is because i want to define the world coordinate of the lights in order to perform per pixel lightning
if there are ways around this lets me know please thx
wich hw you mean? thats no problem on a radeon9500 or bether..

DirectX 8.1 exposes 8 constant registers for ps 1.1 to 1.4. But with DirectX 9 ps 2.0 you have 32 of them, for ps 2.0+ and ps 3.0 you have 224.
So get yourself some DirectX 9 hardware...

well i need them to do my dynamic lightning
i just parse all the light coordinates and values of the current node to the shader and let him do the rest :D

Ironically, it would not actually be possible to use more than 8 constant registers in PS 1.0 to 1.3, as each instruction can only refer to one constant register, and the instruction limit is 8.
