how to use the DEBUG from the SDK?

I installed now sdk9, with DEBUG, and not RETAIL, and i have no idea how to use it... so can someone explain this to me please?

1) First, goto your Control Panel. If you see the DirectX-icon, goto step 5.
2) You don't have the DirectX Developers Run-Time. So goto the DirectX Page and download it.
3) Install the DirectX Developers Run-Time on your computer.
4) Goto step 1.
5) Click on the DirectX-icon.
6) Tab to Direct3D.
7) Enable 'Use Debug Version of Direct3D'.
8) Drag the 'Debug Output Level' slidebar to the right.
9) In Visual C++ press F5 and watch the Output Window.
