Anyone here use MD3 alot or know much about it?

I would like to learn more about the md3 file format and how flexible it can be. I''ve read through the format specification but I''d like to hear a bit about people''s experience regarding its flexibility. For example, how easy is it create and to use non-player model md3''s (the Quake 3 player model is defined as head, torso, legs + other specific stuff)? I''m guessing single object, no animation models like the guns are probably not to hard to create and use. Has anyone tried using md3 for something like a tank? (Turrent and Hull components encapsulated in a single md3.) Like I said, I''d like to hear from any artists or programmers who have created or used md3 models (mainly non-player md3 models).
