SimpleCam demonstration, binaries and full VB source. Webcams tend to take up lots of bandwidth so I put together an alterative. Basically this program takes a shot at a time and compresses it into a JPEG. After 100 shots it starts replacing files starting with the first one. A simple webpage is then used to display the shots one at a time looping after 100. A 160x120 frame compresses to under 5KB per shot with the compression level set to 25. By deleting the file before replacing it, even IE won''t cache the image. You''ll need to be running your own server to use the program to stream video over the net unless you tie in an FTP program to upload the files for you. You could also use the program to do surveillance. If you have a VB compiler you can increase the size of the capture image and the number of frames to loop.
