Help! strange problem about D3DXEffect

hi all: I got a very strange problem about D3DXEffect. when I set the TEXTUREFACTOR in an effect file. some color value doesnt work. - Use "ampersand lt semicolon"
and "ampersand rt semicolon"

- Try it with the reference rasterizer, if it doesn''t come out black, it''s a driver bug.
If it comes out black, it''s an application bug.
