Math Book

Recommended Posts

Interested in purchasing a general mathematics book for reference material relating to computer graphics/games. Hold bachelors in Computer Science and Mathematics, so not a complete idiot. Any suggestions? Thank you.

A general Mathematics book? Well, to be honest if you do have a joint Bsc in comp sci and maths, you probably know alot of what will be in these books anyway. For that reason, I''d suggest 3D Game Engine design as a starting point for you, it''s very maths heavy, and is directly related to game engine design, which is no suprise really.

Other than that... I suppose "Mathematics for 3D graphics applications" is a pretty good book, though I suspect that you''d all ready know whats in it.

The books I generally reference for maths are either 3D Game Engine design, or Engineering Mathematics - though thats geared for electrical/electronic engineers, maths is maths.

Death of one is a tragedy, death of a million is just a statistic.

Do any of you feel that this book will be worth it? I just want a book that I can refer to every now and then on days that I take my stupid pills.

I think it''s worth it (I''m the same AP), although you might find it very dense at first. I''m willing to bet that it will very useful when used in conjunction with decent google searches. If you can get it used at a decent price, you can''t go wrong. Also, "Real time rendering" is good and "Advanced Animation and Rendering" (Watt & Watt). It all depends on what you want to focus on.
