I installed FreeBSD on my system. It won''t boot. I installed the bootloader after deleting the master boot record, but nothing. I am running windows on one drive and am trying to share another 20 gig drive with Mandrake. Do I need to just make a boot diskette? How? All help is appreciated.

What doesn''t boot? FreeBSD or the entire computer?

When you installed FreeBSD, what install option did you select?

FreeBSD won''t. I chose to install the bootloader, if that''s what you mean.
You get any errors?
nope
Going to make me pry out the answers eh? =)

So, what is the overall boot loader you want to use? FreeBSD''s, Lilo, Windows?

Assuming you installed FreeBSD last, did it pick up your other partitions?

When you boot, do you get any boot loader and then select FreeBSD? Or you just don''t see FreeBSD (because your BIOS boots off your first disk and BSD is on the second).

Need...more...info...to ...help. =)

I think if I install the Mandrake bootloader it''ll give me an option of going to FreeBSD. I''ll try it and tell you what happens.
FreeBSD installed its boot loader in the partition boot area. It expects the MBR to have something intelligent that recognizes that when the bootable flag is set on a partition, that partition has a boot loader on it.

lilo just follows its config. so it needs to be configured to boot fbsd. i forget how. its been at least a year since i dualed fbsd and slackware...
