I just program for fun right now ofcourse since im a beginner but one day i''d like to go to school for it and get a job. (I got plenty of time im still in hs lol) Thanks for the future replies
i am not sure but i am interested about the respone... i remember reading an article about on gamedev that sed in the future getting jobs will be impossible because our jobs will go to places like china and korea where employers will have to pay less for peoples services... i am currently in yr 10, just chosen my subjects for upper school and have picked all computer/physics/math related ones so i hope the market for jobs for us wannabe game programmers is still around... neway man... good luck...

Question 1: Are you from USA ?
Question 2: How old are you ?
Question 3: You wanna go to gamedev field ? Or shall DB programming be enough for you ?
Depending on your age, there may be several more Economy cycles (Boom&Recession) that shall influence ordinary Programming fields (because GameDev field actually prospers from short-time crises - people have more free time and buy games from their savings).
If you`re in USA, I can`t see a problem with finding a job in GameDev filed in near timeframe. Most companies are concentrated in California, so that might include moving.
If you`re in Europe, England has currently most free vacancies from GameDev standpoint, so definitely check that out.
I can`t talk for other territories, but you can always program a game in your home and then sell it through web retailers and distributors while sitting in your home.

You''ve got plently of time Anthonyrh1, just keep coding for fun and make sure you continue learning new things and you''ll do fine. Also, it''s a little more competitive to enter the games industry than other regular software companies, as that''s where everyone wants to work. Just make sure you stand out amongst the crowd by having a sweet demo/game to show employers!
And remember, never give up!

damn, that was one of the most positive responses i''ve ever heard. I thank you for it, even though it was meant towards someone else.
Depends on what kind of software engineer you are, your skill, and where you live.
