I building and RPG similar to Final Fantasy VIII for the comp. I was programmed in DX6 and I am using 7.1a sdk. Now, the game does its screen fades to black and white with no problem. My card does NOT support setting the DDRamp with dd. So I was wondering if they purely did the screen fade in d3d or whether it was a mix of d3d or dd and how to go about doing that. -A Edited by - Armera on 6/23/00 10:55:44 AM

Draw a quad with alphas of 0 over the part of the screen you want to fade. Slowly increase the alpha values of the quad until you cannot see through it. Also, the quad should be the color you want the screen to fade to. Then the screen would appear to "fade" in. Also, you might be able to access gamma controls, which might be faster.
