1.How can the monitor chang its resolution? I think since the fluorescent dot''s size is fixed, that how can the monitor chang its size? Change the strength of electron gun? 2.What''s the different between scan line and logical scan line?

Does it really matter HOW the monitor changes resolution......unless you plan on building monitors or something.
If you are planning on writing games. which is what this site is about, I would be more worried about how I SET the resolution in DirectDraw........
This doesnt answer a question or do much of anything in the way of helping......I just felt like typing something

If you''re interested in it though, you should seek for some of those *very* old tutorials about the CRT and other graphic tweaking. I think they give you the information you request. I think a good starting point is the pcgpe (not sooo old), or denthor''s tutorials

hope it helps

The monitor has a resolution much higher than the actual video card memory resolution, and so the electron gun doesn''t actually do anything different when the resolution changes, it just draws more dots from a number in the video card memory than it did before.
