Texture size for tiles
Hello all. I'm curious what size of textures people use for their tiles. I'm currently using 64x64 and I was wonder everone else uses and if there are any advantages to diffrent sizes other then the obvious, being storage factor?
The only one I could think of was, tile randomization, For instance if the texture for dirt has 4 diffrent tiles on it. Then I could assign diffrent tiles diffrent parts of same texture creating a more varried look to the dirt.
I'm using openGL, Don't think that important but thought I'd mention it just incase.

I''m using a screen resolution of 640x480. Most tiles are 32x32 with background tiles being 256x256.
