Hi, Is there a way to _HARD_ close an application. In that I mean actually phisically killing execution at a specific moment without any shutdown routines etc?

Exit();

If memory serves me, this is the old C way of killing an app. It releases no resources so I would not suggest using this unless you like to leak memory all over the place. :-(

TerminateProcess() too :D it says on msdn to only use it in extreme circumstances though, for the same reason stated for exit()

Control + Alt + Delete, puling the plug, clicking the reset button...

Or...

Exit();

But I use return EXIT_SUCCESS
