I compiled The Tower demo (chapter 20) from Jim Adams RPG directX book, it compiled and linked up nicely (14 warnings about possible loss of data LRESULT to int conversions), but when I run the .exe all I get is a window filled with whiteness. Anyone know what could be causing this? I am using Visual Studio .NET and linked to quartz.lib d3d8.lib ddraw.lib d3dx8.lib d3dxof.lib winnm.lib dinput8.lib dplayx.lib dsound.lib dxguid.lib. Multithreading is enabled. unsigned chars are set to default. I am using directX 8.1 and am using the updated 8.1 bookcode. I have also successfully compiled "the duel" sample that comes with directx 8.1, I have the debug sdk setup.

Where did u run the file from? If you ran it from the debug directory it won''t work because it expects to go back on directory to find the DATA directory. So run it from that directory. Or press Control-F5 from in Visual C++ 6.0
