Advice on a book
Hi all
I want to know which one is better:
-Real-Time Rendering Tricks and Techniques in DirectX
-Special Effects Game Programming with DirectX 8.0
I mean the more useful, the more correct (if the source code supplied work w/o problems)if the demos and fx are well explained and original and not something you can find anywhere else for free.
I have both, and find that Special Effects Programming is better because it''s been more useful and seems to cover information to a greater extent. As a matter of fact, other than the chapter on motion blur, I have yet to use any information from Real-Time rendering. This is partly because it focuses on shaders written in an assembly-like language. This is fine and all, but I now would prefer the higher level shader languages. Just my opp.
