Tank Scroller Ideas

Hey, I''m creating a game that is a port of the old Arcade game Strategy X, which for those who don''t know, is a vertical tank scroller. I am done with the code, and now I am creating the images for the game. So far, I have sprites to depict a city scape and forest, and I was wondering what some other scenery for the tank to roam around in people would think would also be fun. So far, I have also thought about maybe a beach or suburbs.

I''m not familiar with that game, but a few suggestions off the top of my head;

Arctic/Ice - bit of variety, plus you could do some simple friction/acceleration fiddling to have the vehicle slide around.
Farmland - fields/crops and all that. Makes for nice scenery, and you could have effects like herds of animals running away from the tank, etc.

Other than that; desert, swamp, grasslands, small islands linked by bridges, jungle, badlands.
Thanks so much for your suggestions.

How about underground levels? Driving around in a cave?

Another springs to mind - underwater levels - have the tank an amphibious vehicle - set a level where it''s crossing a big river/lake etc. Lots of potential for interesting gameplay/effects there.
Industrial park
Oil refinery
Airport
Hedgerow maze
Trenches and bunkers
Nuclear power plant
-solo (my site)
Egypt (every retro game has to have a scrolling pyramid background!),
The Moon
and a shipyard/docks level before the underwater level.
