Unified Win32 class library

Amazing we put up with MFC and other half-ass libraries. Especially when we know we can do better. VCL looks great, but it is Borland-specific. I''m amazed there isn''t a serious development effort behind one set of Windows wrappers that Don''t Suck. I''m sure companies have some decent ones in house, but a free set of them would rock. It''s 2003, and we *still* have to remember close find handles (for example). I think ATL/WTL is a good example of what a library should be. Would it be possible to make a header only library? Being able to dodge making people distribute a DLL or link it statically would be optimal.
