Cleaning a Sound: Can it be saved?

Recommended Posts

I''m cleaning up a set of WarCraft 3 unit responses for a friend, but it sounds like the recorder''s mic is of poor quality. I applied a basic Cool Edit Noise Reduction, but there''s still a crackling in the voice itself. It''s a shame that I may have to tell my friend to get the guy to re-record. Can anything be done to save it by cleaning it up? http://www.samods.com/~magic/alarosio.zip

If you send me a link to the original, preferably a wave, I might be able to clean it up a bit more. Bear in mind that this is a compression of a compressed file!

Current version you cleaned: that''s pretty good! It sounds like the guy recorded it in a particular room (I''ve done that sort of thing before - it makes an echo on the recording, hampering quality).

If you''re going to use wc3 sounds, why don''t you simply extract the original from the data?

We''re not using the original sounds, we''re replacing them for a custom campaign.
