o.k i'm trying to get a mesh on screen...
and i''m using Maya 4.5 as my mesh editor. the problem i''m having is converting the Maya files to .x files. i read the documentation that comes with the dx sdk and it references conv3ds.exe to convert 3d model made in Autodesk 3d studio and other modeling packages( which i assume includes Maya ). i tried running the utility from the command line, but i keep getting that the command is unknown even after i added the DXsdk bin to my dos path. So what am i doing wrong and how can i fix it, please be as specific as possible.
I thought that conv3ds.exe was only for converting 3DS Max Models? Somebody smack me around if I''m wrong.
I believe there are plug-ins to Maya that you can use to directly export from Maya to .x format. Take a look on google.

thanx for the response, but i need to know what i''m looking for exactly and how to use the info once i find it.
try deep exploration (use google to find) to convert it, conv3ds converts 3d studio files to .x i dont think it does maya. Or use a plugin again use google
I dont think Maya 4.5 has a plugin by Microsoft (yet)
